The Plan

TMAT is a powerful tool but you still need a "plan".  As you are viewing this site, it should be safe to assume that you are planning to automate your trades in the near future.  You are probably planning to improve your abilities to make money when trading by utilizing an available tool(s) to help you do things that you may not be fast enough, disciplined enough, or have enough trading prowess to do on your own consistently.

So lets take a look at a couple of ways you might plan to use automated trading:

Since it doesn't take a lot of movement to make an extra $100 a day when trading ES or CL, we will start with some examples that reference these two trading instruments.

Example 1:  Configure TMAT to trade ES and scalp trade $100 and then shut-off once that goal is achieved.  As you configure TMAT, you should set a reasonable "profit target" and "stop loss" for each ES trade and set your maximum loss limit for the day.  For ES maybe start off by using a "profit target" of 4 ticks and a "stop loss" of 6 ticks or less.  Select TMAT trade triggers that agree with your current trade bias (Scalp, trade the Pull-Backs, or any other available Full-Auto trade trigger).  Also, configure the "Risk Management" settings as desired.  Do you want your stop loss order to be moved to breakeven if a trade has moved your way 2 ticks or 3 ticks or ?  Or, do you want to use a trailing stop instead?  Enable TMAT and click the "Full-Auto" button so that is reads "Full-Auto is ON".

Example 2:  Configure TMAT to trade CL and scalp trade $100 and then shut-off once that goal is achieved.  As you configure TMAT, you should set a reasonable "profit target" and "stop loss" for each CL trade and set your maximum loss limit for the day.  For CL maybe start off by using a "profit target" of 10 ticks and a "stop loss" of 12 ticks or less.  Select TMAT trade triggers that agree with your current trade bias (Scalp, trade the Pull-Backs, or any other available Full-Auto trade trigger).  Also, configure the "Risk Management" settings as desired.  Enable TMAT and click the "Full-Auto" button so that is reads "Full-Auto is ON".

Keep in mind you can schedule TMAT to trade all day or for any portion of the day.  So if you only want TMAT to trade for 1 hour, you can configure it to do so.

Spend some time with TMAT and let it trade in SIMULATION MODE (no additional risks).  This process would be a risk free way of finding a TMAT recipe that you may feel comfortable trading live, either fully automated or semi-automated.

Required Risk Disclosure:  Futures and forex trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing ones’ financial security or life style. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.

Required Hypothetical Performance Disclosure:  Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. no representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. for example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results.
